A move to the Midlands in the mid 90’s sparked my interest in Turntablism and the next three years saw me hone my skills on the tables, collect more records and become heavily involved in the Midlands urban/dance scene.
This period was filled with promoting, holding residencies, hosting my own weekly show on local and pirate radio and guest appearances at many respected Midland’s club nights including the now legendary Off The Hook, Technique and Big Beating Around The Bush (Progress).
A move back to Essex in 2000 saw me make links with Iron Bridge (voted best new UK Hip Hop act 2003), Headzache and Ill Psychosis where scratch contributions were made on several 12”s and EPs and released through various independent labels. Numerous DJ performances were provided for the respective crews as part of their live PAs. During this time I was also commissioned to record the scratch parts for an online award winning DJ mixing website. A return to the Midlands saw a diversification into production, a welcome return to the airwaves and more residencies.
Over the last two years I have started to tutor people predominantly young offenders and kids at the risk of exclusion in the art of DJ-ing and Turntablism. Currently I am Derbyshire Regional Coordinator for Pedestrian.
I am also one third of CDO, a collaboration of music producers, turntablists and visual artists. We perform live AV sets throughout the country and are currently the support act for Push DJ’s (Rocstar Records). http://www.myspace.com/mistahtoe http://www.myspace.com/collagedropouts
