Lee Smith
Music Tutor, Project Developer and Regional Co-ordinator I am currently the Nottinghamshire Regional Co-ordinator and a Music production tutor for Pedestrian. My mission is to promote the arts to young people as a powerful means of expression, and a platform with which they can use to get their opinions heard. I am seeking to use various urban art forms as a way to develop young people’s basic skills, confidence and social inclusion.
Music, Film, Dance, Art/Design, Television and Radio all offer many career opportunities for young people, but for these to be developed they need access to the facilities to engage in the arts and the support of organisations that will help them gain training, experience and employment. Pedestrian plays a key role in this process.
Pedestrian has provided me with a great opportunity to help, develop and provide opportunities to others in the same way that they have for me.
On a personal level I would like to explain how I became involved with Pedestrian, I phoned everyone in the yellow pages who were music related seeking an opportunity to get involved. And the only person to respond was Jim Willis CEO of Pedestrian, and ever since I have received continued support from the Pedestrian community and they have personally assisted me in developing as an artist and an individual.
In my role as Regional Co-ordinator for Pedestrian in Nottingham I’m looking to develop our network of tutors in the region, increase the number of workshops that we deliver, but most of all inspire young people and help facilitate them to reach their potential through the use of the arts.
