Naomi Thompson: Placement so far...
Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 10:24AM Recently starting in November 2011 I got involved with Pedestrian a part of my work placement a s a second year student studying Youth and Community Development at De Montfort University. So far I have enjoyed my experience, which is predominantly assisting Tutors with the workshops as a facilitator, and the days I spend doing related duties for the organisation such as being a Gallery Host.
For my placement I was looking for an opportunity to work in an education based youth work setting with a creative twist. And Pedestrian Arts is exactly that. Before coming to Pedestrian I was looking forward to gaining a wider knowledge base of how organisations work and fundamentally the opportunity to gain more experience in the field I am studying for. This role Is so varied which means I am able to develop new skills consistently. It is allowing me to slowly come to terms with a working environment and I feel more like a Practitioner now that I am finally able to put my education into practice.
The Pedestrian team are a lovely group to be a part of and through Pedestrian I feel more confident that I can in future practice combine my passion for Education, Young people and Creative Arts.
